The heel of the boot is fake. It's just a glued on layered leather strip. It's just rubber heel.

Very comfortable shoe and seems like a good quality material. I have worn them several times now and realized that the opening around the ankle is pretty small. I wear a 8.5 so ordered a 9 so I would have extra room with wearing thicker socks in the colder months. But the opening around my ankle is too small and has actually left bruises around both of my ankles!
